About Myanmar
The Republic of the Union of Myanmar is a country in Southeast Asia and a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. It borders the Andaman Sea in the southwest, India and Bangladesh in the northwest, China in the northeast, Thailand and Laos in the southeast, and Naypyidaw is the capital.
As of April 2020, Myanmar had a population of 54.58 million, comprising 135 ethnic groups, mainly Burmese, Kayin, Shan, Kachin, Chin, Kayah, Mon and Rakhine, accounting for 65 percent of the total population.
Myanmar has seven provinces, seven states and two central municipalities under its jurisdiction. The province is the main dwelling place of The Burmese people, while the seven states are mostly inhabited by ethnic minorities.
